CBA New(er) Instructor Workshop II: Don’t Just Plan Your Course—Backward Design It

A CATL Workshop - Backward Design is an approach to designing a course or unit that starts by defining intended learning outcomes and then working backward to determine how the course should be taught to achieve the outcomes and how learning should be assessed to document student progress.

We will do several backward design exercises to explore how your learning outcomes, instruction, and assessment practices fit together. This session will help you identify what you think is most important for students to learn, what instruction is best suited to achieve the outcomes, how you assess students to determine their progress, and what aspects of the course you might want to revise.
