Mapathon

Please join us to map the vulnerable regions affected by natural disasters. A mapathon is a great opportunity for volunteers to digitally connect and map the most vulnerable places in the world so that local and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) can use these maps and data to better respond to crises affecting these areas. Department of Geography and Earth Science will join he Humanitarian Openstreetmap Team (HOT)(https://www.hotosm.org/updates/2017-09-09_hot_activates_for_three_disasters_hurricane_irma_mexico_earthquake_bangladesh) in their mapping efforts to make opensource geospatial data available in the disaster stricken areas of USA, Mexico, and Bangladesh. Its a great way for our community to make a global impact.

It is open to everyone. You will just need a computer (feel free to bring your own laptop) and internet connection. No installation. No download. You don't have to be a mapping expert.

Volunteers can come and go anytime within the 3 hr period. You don't have to stay the whole time.
