HEAR HERE: PUBLIC HISTORY IN THEORY AND PRACTICE

Are you interested in the history of La Crosse? Do the voices and experiences of historically underrepresented peoples intrigue you? Would you like to know the local stories that go untold or unnoticed in the formal history of our community?

If so, please join us for project: HEAR, HERE, and help create a powerful and living example of local history in our community. UWL Continuing Education and Extension, Department of History and the School District of La Crosse are collaborating to offer this unique opportunity to community members. History Associate Professor, Dr. Ariel Beaujot, will present an engaging and innovative approach to teaching public history. Participants will gather and compile local, personal stories associated with geographic points in the city and make audio recordings available to passersby who happen upon those locales, they will help with the completion of K-12 programming for the project, and will learn how to implement data in the phone system, website, and how to use social media for the project.

This course will address history content and practices across grade levels.

Last date to withdraw from this course is Friday, February 2, 2018. You must contact Briana Meuer AND the instructor, Ariel Beaujot, Ph.D., to initiate the withdrawal. Failure to do so may result in the inability to withdraw, resulting in a ‘F’ grade. Only withdrawals initiated before the deadline date of February 2nd will be eligible for a 100% refund.
