SSP Locally Grown Scholarship Breakfast

Celebrating 30 Years of Dreams to Degrees

The annual SSP Locally Grown Scholarship Breakfast celebrates Self-Sufficiency Program (SSP) graduates who attend UW-L and other area colleges.  An outreach program of the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality  Studies Department, SSP is pre-college program for single-parents and other adults who are interested in going to college.  SSP is offered each fall and spring semester with generous campus and community support.

This year's speaker is Amy Sullivan, PhD, the Director of SSP from 2002-2011. She hosted the first Locally Grown Scholarship Awards Breakfast in 2004. Commemorating SSP's founding in 1988, Amy will speak on Knowledge as Power: 30 years of SSP.  Amy teaches teaches at Macalester College and is working on an oral history and book project about the opioid epidemic.
