Middletown

UWL Theatre Presents a Touching and Funny Reflection on Being Human

The University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Department of Theatre Arts is proud to present Will Eno’s Middletown, a delicate play about Anywhere, USA, and how human connection is essential for our survival.  Middletown will show at 7:30 p.m. on December 6-7 and 12-14 and Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. on December 8 in Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts, on the corner of 16th and Vine Streets.

Middletown is a deeply moving and funny play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.  In this delicate, moving and wry amble along the collective road to nowhere, the folks are friendly, and the view of star-dappled skies and modest homes is familiar and comforting.  Yet nestled amid all the homey detail is a prickly awareness of the awesome mystery of existence, the void whence everything came and into which it all may one day go.

Tickets go on sale online beginning Monday, September 30 at www.uwlax.edu/theatre-arts.  In person/phone ticket sales begin December 2 at 1:00 p.m.  Box office hours are 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before show times.  Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for senior/non UWL students and $6 for UW-L students; call (608) 785-8522.
