International Virtual Exchange

Enhance and Internationalize UWL Curriculum on Campus

Mary Lou Forward, Executive Director of SUNY COIL Center, will be visiting UWL and presenting on how to internationalize and enhance curriculum through virtual exchange. Virtual exchange is a scalable means to internationalize the curriculum and extend significant international experiences to all students and faculty by facilitating online intercultural exchange.

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), a popular form of virtual exchange developed by the State University of New York, connects students and professors by linking existing courses at higher education institutions around the world for collaborative projects and discussions. COIL allows people to have sustained interactions, asynchronous and synchronous, over a period of weeks, developing relationships and mutual understanding while focusing on concrete tasks and topics, using online tools as the medium for communications.
