Nick Walczak | Computer Vision

UWL Alumni Talk

This talk will be about an hour, including time for questions.

This talk presents a brief overview of some Nick's recent projects:

  • Tracking people in 3D point cloud data over time
  • Activity recognition in first-person cameras.
  • Detecting and tracking cell balls in fluorescence microscopy images


Brief Bio:  

Attended UWL from 2005 until 2009, graduated as a computer science major. 

After graduating, Nick entered the Computer Science PhD program at the University of Minnesota, where he received his PhD in 2017.  He worked with Nikolaus Papanikolopoulos, focusing on computer vision, specifically working 3D point-cloud data, object detection, and tracking. 

While finishing up his PhD, Nick joined Raytheon BBN Technologies as an intern, then a part-time employee, and finally full-time post graduation.  At BBN, he has worked on numerous projects, mostly involving computer vision.
